The organizers of the 2010 photokina (September 21-26, 2010) have announced that the show has added a new exhibit area dubbed Underwater Imaging World, photokina featuring a wide range of products for enthusiasts of underwater photography. Attendees will have the opportunity to use the products under real-life conditions in a special test and diving pool.

In addition, professionals will be offering workshops, presentations, travel reports and photo and film documentaries to provide attendees with detailed insights into the entire underwater imaging sector.

The Underwater Imaging World will be rounded out by the Epson Red Sea Contest exhibit that will be on display in this special pavilion. The Epson Red Sea Contest “World of Underwater Images,” which now also features a new beginner’s category, combines the fascinating discipline of scuba diving with photography, extreme sports and environmental protection. The exhibit will also include video clips produced during the competition. The contest’s driving force is David Pilosof (Pilo), a veteran underwater photographer and the creator of the famous “Samantha” photo album. Pilo has taken part in many underwater photography contests himself and he helped shape the underwater and nude photography genres.

You can find further information on the individual topic areas in the press section of the photokina website here.
