CES Drew 113,000 Professionals, Audit Says

The 2009 International CES in January drew 113,085 industry professionals to Las Vegas, the Consumer Electronics Association said Thursday, basing the numbers on an external audit VERIS Consulting LLC.

CEA on the day of the event had estimated an professional attendance of 110,000. Multiple media outlets pegged the drop from last year at around 22 percent

“This audit report confirms that the 2009 International CES succeeded, despite an economic downturn, in attracting top executives, retail buyers, content providers, entertainment executives, venture capitalists, engineers, government officials and media from around the globe,” Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA, said as part of the announcement.

“Our CES exhibitors commend us on attracting top-level decision makers, which allowed them to start the year off right by doing a considerable amount of business with global partners.”
