The idea behind HP’s new Photo Center solution is to allow consumers to easily produce professional-looking photo books, flip books, posters, canvas prints, DVD slideshows, calendars, banners, greeting cards and more.

The HP Photo Center 5 Premier is the newest version of the HP Photo Center retail publishing solution that integrates HP’s Microlab, Minilab and Photosmart Studio systems. Versatile and scalable, the HP Photo Center can either be plugged into a retailer's existing lab infrastructure or can serve as a complete, end-to-end solution, designed to increase revenue by transforming traditional photo departments into dynamic publishing centers. “

With the HP Photo Center, customers can easily produce professional-looking photo books, flip books, posters, canvas prints, DVD slideshows, calendars, banners, greeting cards and more in addition to vibrant, lab-quality photos within a one-hour service environment,” the company explains.

Additionally, the HP Photo Center can connect to Snapfish by HP to offer consumers the comfort of at-home ordering with the speed and convenience of in-store pickup. New features of the HP Photo Center 5 include: • The ability for retailers to install a hub-and-spoke layout with one or several unattended locations that offer standard 4×6-, 5×7- and 8×10-inch prints and related print products tied into a central attended location that will fulfill the 4×6, 5×7 and 8×10-inch prints products.

These spoke-ordered, hub-created products are then shipped to the hub location by the retailer for later pickup. • The ability to feature promotional pricing and discounts via a promotions engine, which is then tracked by the HP Retail Management System so the retailer can measure the success of each promotional campaign. • Advanced collage creation, which enables consumers to more quickly and easily assign images to a specific page in a multi-page collage for bound calendars and photo books.

Consumers have more control over their creations and can complete the order process even faster. • To delight consumers and drive profit margins upward, HP Photo Center 5 Premier includes a premium themes engine—the ability to offer licensed content for use in consumer-created, in-store-produced photo products. At introduction, the licensed content will include over 200 themes in 18 creative photo products, using content from Dr. Seuss, Norman Rockwell, Marvel Comics, Star Trek, Nickelodeon and others.
