IPC Hands Out Leadership Awards

The International Photographic Council (IPC), a non-governmental organization (NGO) of the United Nations, presented its 2009 IPC Professional Photographer Leadership Awards.

The awards were handed out during the 11th annual IPC International Professional Photographers Month Luncheon, held at the United Nations in New York City last month. IPC president James Chung hosted the event and IPC board member and vice president John Segall served as luncheon chair.

Tony Cilento, Jr., senior vice president, Photographic Development, Lifetouch, Inc., delivered a moving keynote presentation. “A few years ago, I was awarded the IPC Leadership Award from PSPA,” he told the gathering. “When I told my father, who was always so busy with work, what he said were the words I had waited my whole life to hear: ‘I’m very proud of you.’ Being recognized in this way meant so much to me, even more than the award itself.”

The awards, presented by IPC each May, are selected by five professional photography organizations: Advertising Photographers of America (APA); American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP); Professional Photographers of America (PPA); Professional School Photographers Association International (PSPA); and White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA). Each organization selects one member who best represents the group’s criteria and ideals.

The 2009 IPC Professional Photographer Leadership Award recipients for 2009 are:

Advertising Photographers of America (APA): Will Mosgrove
American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP): Richard Anderson
Professional Photographers of America (PPA): Jack Reznicki
Professional School Photographers Assoc.International (PSPA):Joe Mark
