NRF Issues Shopping Crowd Guidelines

In an attempt to avoid a repeat of a couple of unfortunate incidents last year on Black Friday, the National Retail Federation has released guidelines on how to handle crowds and maintain in-store safety this holiday season.

The 13-page document includes advice on how to manage crowds, handle special sales, and plan logistics in advance for the holidays. Click here to obtain the full document.

Recent incidents include a man being trampled to death at a Walmart store on Long Island last November, a mob, spurred by a tweet from basketball star Dwight Howard that overwhelmed a Florida GameStop last month, and a riot at a Burlington Coat Factory that followed a woman claiming she had won $1.5 million in a lottery and was buying clothes for other customers.
