Tech Trends: Consumers Cite Store Visits as Top Research Tool for Camera Purchases

NPD’s Next Camera Study reveals purchase intent, camera needs and wants, and awareness of and interest in hybrid, mirrorless compact system cameras.

When asked about research behavior on their most current camera purchased, consumers rated visiting a store as the top research method prior to purchase.

For those consumers who intend to purchase a camera for at least $400 in the next year, they were far more likely to use multiple means of research. Store visits, online reviews, and retail and manufacturer websites were all significant factors cited in making a purchase decision.
