Wayne, NJ—Hundreds of adventurers set off on a 10,000-mile motorized trek from the United Kingdom to Mongolia on July 14 in the Mongol Rally 2013, and JVC Adixxion action cameras are along to capture the thrills, spills, fun and frustrations.
The Mongol Rally is an automotive adventure across Europe and Central Asia that has hundreds of thrill-seeking participants pushing their lust for adventure to the limits in a trek that has few rules, and some that are specifically designed to ensure a true adventure. Organized by UK-based the Adventurists, the rally launched at Bodiam Castle in southern England, and ralliers can take any path they like to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
JVC provided the organizers with Adixxion cameras to be used by rally teams as they make their way through villages, over mountains and across deserts until the final leg through the Mongolian steppe. Along the way, teams will upload video updates of their adventure shot using the JVC cameras, and the videos will be shared on the JVC Adixxion Facebook page and Twitter feed.
The new JVC GC-XA2 Adixxion, offering Full HD 1,920×1,080/60p video recording, is engineered for capturing an adventure like the Mongol Rally. Pocketsize and weighing a quarter pound, the action cam is waterproof to a depth of 16.4 feet, shockproof to withstand a fall from 6.5 feet, dustproof and freezeproof—all without a separate housing.
In addition, built-in Wi-Fi and a new JVC app that stores YouTube and UStream account settings make it easy to upload or stream video. For further versatility and control, the app allows a wireless connection to a smartphone and control of up to four Adixxion cameras for remote monitoring and start/stop.
Mongol Rally participants are required to raise a minimum amount for charity, and at the event’s conclusion, the cars are sold and the funds donated to a Mongolian charity that this year will use the funds to support education in Mongolia. jvc.com
