Launching in January 2005, Sony’s 7.2-megapixel marvel boasts a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. Encased within a slim aluminum metal body measuring 4.2x2x11 inches is Sony’s 7.2MP Super HAD CCD. Moreover, the pocketable P&S’s 3x optical zoom, 38–114mm-equivalent f/2.8–5.2 Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom extends out from the camera body when required.

Plus, you can keep shooting with Sony’s Stamina technology that enables the Cyber-shot DSC-P200 to capture up to 370 images on one charge of its InfoLithium battery. Lending a hand is the Sony Real Imaging processor. Further, on the back of the camera is a 2-inch color LCD for image playback and adjusting camera settings. The LCD is also protected by a clear polycarbonate panel. Additionally, it features animated and enlarged icons to make choosing functions simpler and select from any of the camera’s exposure settings as well as nine scene selection modes.

Its features are fully automatic for ease of use or manual exposure for the more advanced approach. The scene selection modes ensure you’ll have the right settings for any of nine common situations. They include fireworks displays, candlelight, beach activities as well as fun in the snow. The P200 is also capable of recording full-screen MPEG movies for viewing on a TV. It also supports an optional powered cradle, the Cyber-shot station. With this you can connect to a PC, printer or AV device, using a remote control to view images on TV, while the camera battery charges up in the dock.
