Parsippany, NJ—The Hasselblad XCD 2,5/25V is the widest-angle lens in the company’s XCD V lens series. Moreover, Hasselblad designed the new lens for night photography, with a 25mm focal length and an f/2.5–32 aperture range. It also has close-up capabilities with a 9.8-inch focusing distance. What’s more, Hasselblad announced the “XCD 25V meets the 100MP resolution requirement to produce clean and sharp images from the center to edges.” Hasselblad-XCD-25V-&-907X-&-CFV-100C

The lens expands Hasselblad’s V system lens line, sharing the same design with a push-pull focus ring, a customizable control ring as well as V logo.

The lens provides Hasselblad photographers a new 25mm wide-angle option for shooting at night or dusk and the blue hour. Its f/2.5 maximum aperture enhances the reliability of night or low-light photography. Thus, it allows photographers to capture cityscapes, night street photography as well as natural landscapes and astrophotography, during those times of the day. Further, photographers can use it to shoot low-light indoor portrait close-ups.

What’s more, compared with other Hasselblad wide-angle lenses, like the XCD 4/21 or 4/28P, the XCD 25V has a wider aperture at f/2.5. Consequently, it is a more suitable lens for night and low-light scenarios. Plus, since it’s a V series lens (Versatile), it offers the balanced size and weight as well as the optical quality and resolution of the lens family.

In addition, the 2,5/25V is relatively lightweight and compact, weighing 20.9 ounces. It measures 4.1 inches in length and just under 3 inches in diameter, with a 72mm filter diameter. Furthermore, its optical formula boasts 13 elements in 10 groups. It features four aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements. Thus, it provides the optical performance to meet 100-megapixel resolution requirements, producing sharp images from the center to edges.

V Series Styling & Design

The new lens also has the same sophisticated appearance and design of XCD V series lenses. It features a push-pull focus ring; a customizable control ring; and the line’s V logo. The focusing ring and control ring are also engraved with a Hasselblad “H” pattern. In addition, photographers can alternate between manual and autofocus by sliding the push-pull focus ring on the lens. Also, functions such as the aperture, shutter speed, ISO and exposure compensation are assignable to the control ring.

Additionally, the lens’s focusing module employs a linear stepper motor and a lighter, smaller focusing lens group. When used with the PDAF (phase-detection autofocus) technology of the X2D 100C or 907X & CFV 100C, the focusing lens group can quickly reach the focusing position to achieve a precise stop.

Another feature is the large-diameter lens’s high-speed leaf shutter that achieves speeds up to 1/4000s. It also delivers flash synchronization at all speeds. Moreover, in bright daylight conditions, it can create a darker background and a prominent distinction between the subject and the background.

The Hasselblad XCD 2,5/25V has a suggested retail price of $3,699.
