One of the top innovators in HDTV has launched an advertising campaign that combines their technology and quality time with family. Panasonic’s “Bring Back Family Time” campaign is a part of their ”Living in High Definition” program. The campaign is a series of commercials and print advertisements that humorously display a family’s inability to spend time together due to busy schedules. The lighthearted ads debuted on ABC and in USA Today in late September.

The program’s basic goal is to encourage families to use the HD technology that Panasonic offers as a way to spend more time with family. Their debut television commercial, which can be viewed on www.panasonic.com/livinginhd, suggests families should use Panasonic technology to watch a picture slide show, shoot a family video or just have a movie night. During the month of October, two 30-second commercials will air on Sunday nights on the ABC Network and will be promoted on-air as “Panasonic Family Night on ABC.”

The campaign also includes a cross country tour that brings consumers personal experience with Panasonic’s High Definition products. The tour is affiliated with the Center for Urban Research and Policy at Columbia University, where researchess are going to examine how this technology can enhance American life.

In addition, up to 30 families will receive $20,000 worth of HD products by taking “The Family Challenge,” a contest for families to show how they would be a good HD spokes-family. Entries are being accepted on the Panasonic website, through Nov. 2. The website also includes lessons on how to use the HD technology, as are suggestions on how families can use technology to enhance their time together.
