Ogden, UT—Gura Gear, LLC, makers of carrying solutions for creative professionals, agreed to acquire the brand and assets of Tamrac, Inc. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court approved the sale through the Chapter 11, Section 363 Sale of Assets process. With a 37-year history of developing affordable carrying solutions for photographers, Tamrac entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early 2014.

Tamrac, Inc., continued to operate normally out of its headquarters and primary manufacturing facilities located in Chatsworth, California, until the acquisition was finalized. However, Gura Gear plans to relocate Tamrac’s assets and expand its Ogden, Utah, facilities.
Tamrac’s founders were outdoor enthusiasts who loved nature photography. Like many amateur and professional photographers, they had a need for camera bags that were tough enough to offer excellent protection yet were easy to carry and allowed fast access to camera equipment to capture spontaneous wildlife pictures. They designed the carry bags specifically for wilderness photography in California’s diverse geography. The name Tamrac was created to reflect the rugged outdoors; a pine found in the American wilderness, the Tamarack, was used as inspiration for the name.
