San Diego, CA—Sony recently added legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk to its Team Action Cam family. One of the most recognizable action sports figures, Hawk’s signing represents a significant step in Sony’s aggressive marketing plans in support of the Action Cam line.

“I’m excited to join Team Action Cam,” said Hawk. “I’ve used Sony cameras throughout my entire skating career, and brought the new Action Cams out with the team on the Birdhouse Tour. The new cameras allow me to create content from angles I could never get before, and the quality is better than anything else out there.”

Hawk is joined by fellow legends and action sports innovators Terje Haakonssen and Ricky Carmichael, as well as Ryan Dungey, Danny Davis, Gus Kenworthy, Sebastien Zietz, Nigel Sylvester and fellow skater Tom Schaar among others.

Team Action Cam’s 27 athletes span skate, snow, ski, surf, BMX, motocross, mountain bike and rallycross. Sony’s Action Cam has also developed event sponsorships, resort partnerships and trial programs and launched sony.com/actioncam.

“We are honored to have Tony Hawk as part of Team Action Cam. Tony is the most recognized skater in the world and has been creating content with Sony cameras for a long time,” said Patrick Huang, director of the camcorder business at Sony Electronics. “With a variety of class-leading features, including image stabilization and the new Live Stream capability, Action Cam opens up a new world of possibilities for him.” sony.com
