Denver, CO—Pentax Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation added a white version of the WG-3 to its ruggedized lineup of compact point-and-shoot cameras. The WG-3 adventureproof cameras are now available in five colors: the WG-3 comes in white, black and orange, and the WG-3 GPS model comes in green and purple.
The WG-3 and WG-3 GPS cameras are designed to provide active families and adventurous individuals with worry-free shooting. Pentax upgraded the features on this new and improved line of waterproof cameras, now in its 15th generation, to meet the rigorous needs of the adventurous photo enthusiast, whose travels can take them into scenarios too challenging for the traditional point-and-shoot camera.
The cameras’ ruggedized bodies are shockproof to withstand drops of up to 6.6 feet, coldproof to 14ºF, waterproof to 45 feet beneath the surface and crushproof to handle up to 220 foot pounds of force. A folded optical zoom lens reduces its vulnerability to moisture and dust while ensuring a compact and pocketable size without the protrusion of a lens barrel.
Plus, the WG-3 has a textured grip for a controlled ergonomic grasp and colorful grip accents to enrich its styling. Other features include: a backlit 16 megapixel CMOS sensor; a high-resolution, 3.0-inch color LCD monitor with antireflective coatings; a sensor-shift shake reduction system for both still photos and Full HD 1080p video recording; a fast f/2.0, 4x optical zoom lens; and six LED macro lights that are positioned around the lens barrel for brighter illumination on a subject when digital microscope mode is selected.
“The addition of white to the existing line of WG-3 cameras is a timely inclusion for upcoming summer activities,” said John Carlson, senior marketing manager, Pentax. “The WG-3 is a great, worry-free camera to keep with you for a day at the beach, a long hike or even on the slopes in the winter. Regardless of season, climate or weather the WG-3 was built to withstand the elements and capture great images.”
The Pentax white WG-3 will be available in July 2013 for a suggested retail price of $299.95. pentaximaging.com
