D&H Celebrates 90th Anniversary

690

The Pennsylvania-based distribution concern D&H Distributing is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Things have changed a lot for the company since David Schwab established it as a tire retreading business during World War I, and D&H will be celebrating the milestone throughout the year.

According to a timeline released by the company, D&H first entered the electronics business in 1926, and exited auto parts in 1943 to expand its electronics offerings. D&H started its Electronic Speciality Products unit in 1973, and went national starting in the late 1980s. Other milestones included the establishment of an education division and partnership with Microsoft (both in 1995), the launch of the www.dandh.com Web site in 1999, a major warehouse expansion in 2000, and an international expansion (into Canada) last year.

“We’re in the same business we were 90 years ago,” Izzy Schwab, the founder’s son and D&H’s CEO since 1999, said in a company statement. “The industry is changing at a faster pace every day, but distribution is still about having the right personal relationships, the right product, the right service level and the right price.”

D&H’s “premier vendor supporters” for its anniversaries include numerous industry heavyweights, including Cisco, Garmin, HP, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft, Panasonic, SanDisk, Sony, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba.

It’s been a season of anniversaries for D&H; the company in December celebrated the 50th anniversary with the company of Izzy Schwab.
