Datacolor has announced the winners of its online photo contest, the ‘Real New York.’  Hundreds of photographers participated, submitting entries that captured the pulse of the city, from the bustle of Manhattan to the calm of Central Park.

After kicking off in conjunction with the 2010 New York Photo Festival in May, entries were collected through the contest’s submission deadline of July 24th.  Throughout the duration of the contest, over a million online votes were tallied as the general public voted for the winning photos that best captured the essence of the City That Never Sleeps.  Grand prize winner Tom McKelvey of Largo, Florida was awarded a trip to the renowned Photokina trade show taking place September 21-26, 2010 in Cologne, Germany for his photograph entitled “Downtown.”

The contest’s first and second place winners, Richard Brown of Seattle, Washington and Tom Duggan of New York, New York were selected for their photos entitled, “Up with Color” and “Fishing.”  Mr. Brown, the contest’s first runner up, received a Lensbaby Composer, while second runner up Mr. Duggan was awarded a $250 gift certificate to B&H.

“We’re thrilled with the level of involvement the photography community showed in our ‘Real New York’ photo contest,” said Christoph Gamper, Vice President, Consumer Business Unit, Datacolor. “Our company is passionate about developing products that truly capture the essence of every image, and likewise, the creativity displayed in these submissions reflects the energy with which photographers approach their craft.”
