Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung Electronics’ NX300 compact system camera is now available, along with the NX 45mm f/1.8 2D/3D interchangeable lens—the first one-lens 3D system capable of capturing still images and Full HD movies in 3D. The company also announced an exclusive, multilayered partnership with the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt.

The NX Junior Photographer campaign will see Samsung and Usain Bolt, a six-time gold medal Olympian, work in partnership to build on the athlete’s love of being behind the camera and showcase the Usain Bolt Foundation to provide equipment and lessons to disadvantaged children. Over the coming months, other activities will be launched through the exclusive partnership with Usain Bolt and Samsung.

Designed with the juxtaposition of modern and retro styling, the NX300 is now available in brown, white or black with a contrasting silver band. Unveiled at the 2013 CES, it is the new flagship model in Samsung’s NX series of compact interchangeable-lens cameras and boasts the updated version of Smart Camera 2.0 connectivity.

“Following last year’s launch of the world’s first truly connected camera Galaxy camera, we wanted to build on this promise and deliver a new product that photographers would fall in love with. The NX300 has been crafted for the everyday camera user. It’s a device that sets the tone in terms of the outside aesthetic as well as the truly innovative digital technology found inside that allows for the freedom of Wi-Fi connectivity. 2013 will see the camera market open a new world of possibilities for the photographer, and Samsung will be there every step of the way,” said Sun Hong Lim, senior vice president and head of Sales & Marketing, Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics.

The NX300 features a 20.3 megapixel APS-CMOS sensor, a hybrid autofocus (AF) system engineered for fast, accurate phase and contrast detection, a 1/6,000-sec. shutter speed and 8.6-frames-per-sec continuous shooting, to capture fast action even in low light.

Its Wi-Fi capabilities allow users to share their photographic creations between devices and desktops. Its direct link hot key enables images to be shared securely at the touch of a button between camera, smartphone and tablets while the Smart Camera app, available for Android and iOS, connects the user’s smartphone to the camera via a Wi-Fi connection to manipulate, share and back up images.

It also employs Samsung’s smart mode, which permits photographers to choose from 14 settings, such as creative shot, landscape, light trace or action freeze. Each setting automatically adjusts aperture and shutter speed to obtain the best possible shot. And composing and reviewing images is accomplished via a 3.31-inch AMOLED screen and tilt display; the hybrid touch screen works with a five-way manual key interface.

Samsung’s NX300 camera has an SRP of $749.99. The NX 45mm f/1.8 2D/3D lens retails for $499. samsung.com
