Ronkonkoma, NY—Sigma Corporation announced the upcoming launch of several interchangeable lenses for the Canon RF-mount system. These new Sigma RF-mount interchangeable lenses will allow photographers to use Sigma lenses in the native mount on their Canon RF-mount mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras.

Moreover, all six lenses are developed, manufactured and sold under license from Canon Inc. They feature a control algorithm, including AF drive and communication speed optimization, developed specifically for Canon RF-mount interchangeable lenses. In addition to realizing high-speed AF, the lenses support AF-C (continuous AF); in-camera aberration correction; as well as in-camera image stabilization.

Sigma plans to release the following lenses in the RF mount. While the 18–50mm will launch in July 2024, the other five lenses will reach retail in fall 2024. Note, all weighs and measurements are approximate.

What’s more, to keep the lenses as light as possible, Sigma constructed the barrels from a polycarbonate called Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) with a thermal conductivity close to that of aluminum. This ensures operability when used in changing temperatures. Additionally, by deliberately using metal for some of the lens’s internal structure, the parts are thinner and have a higher rigidity, ensuring the lenses can stand up to frequent heavy use.

This was Sigma’s first APS-C-size mirrorless zoom lens with a 27–75mm full-frame equivalent zoom range. Consequently, the lens is an option for a range of photo and video applications. They include landscapes, portraits, street photography, architecture as well as event photography. Further, photographers can use it for macro-style close-up photography, owing to its 1:2.8 maximum magnification and 4.8-inch minimum focusing distance. Moreover, its bright f/2.8 aperture makes for easier handheld and low-light shooting. It also provides a shallow depth of field. In additionally, a stepping motor achieves fast, quiet autofocus.

The lens features 13 elements in 10 groups as well as a 7-blade diaphragm that enables smooth bokeh. Furthermore, three glass-molded aspherical elements and the use of in-camera aberration correction eliminates distortion and vignetting. The lens measures 2.9 inches in length and weighs about 10.2 ounces.

Sigma 10–18mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary

This is a light, ultrawide-angle zoom lens for APS-C cameras, covering a 15–27mm-equivalent range. The lens features a unique aspherical element that reduces its overall size and enhances image quality. Plus, a 4.6-inch (1:4) minimum focusing distance produces compositions with expansive backgrounds and pleasing bokeh. With a weight of 9.2 ounces, a fast AF stepping motor and minimal focus breathing, you can also mount this lens onto a motorized gimbal to create video content. Further, it’s also an option for landscapes and travel.

It features 13-element, 10-group construction and a 7-blade diaphragm. The lens uses three FLD (fluorite-equivalent), one SLD (special low dispersion) and three aspherical elements to combat various aberrations. It measures 2.8×2.4 inches.

Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary

For APS-C-format cameras, it offers a 24mm-equivalent focal length and f/1.4 brightness. The large-diameter wide-angle lens is a lightweight, compact package for everyday use.

It also features a lens structure with 16 elements in 13 groups. It effectively minimizes optical aberrations and offers high resolution at a wide-open aperture and throughout the aperture range. Moreover, the optical design and stepping motor deliver smooth autofocus during video shooting. Additionally, the mount features a special sealing for a dust and splash resistance. It has a 9.8-inch minimum focusing distance (1:9.9), weighs 14.6 ounces and measures 2.8×3.6 inches.

The wide-angle lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras also boasts f/1.4 brightness and is compact enough to carry around every day. With an easy-to-use angle of view of 35mm (equivalent), it achieves high resolution from maximum aperture and pleasing bokeh effects thanks to its f/1.4 brightness. Its applications include landscapes, portraits and tabletop photography.

With 13-element, 10-group construction, it also features 9 aperture blades. Its design includes three SLD glass elements and two aspherical lens elements, to achieve sharp images. It has a minimum focusing distance of 9.8 inches (1:7.3). Furthermore, at 12 ounces, it measures 2.6×3 inches.

This large-aperture standard lens gives owners of mirrorless cameras the opportunity to experience shooting wide open, with f/1.4 brightness. It also achieves an artistic bokeh effect that only a large-aperture lens can offer.

A prime lens with a focal length of around a 50mm equivalent, it offers an angle of view very similar to human vision. Consequently, photographers can use the shallow depth of field at wide-open aperture to take portraits and tabletop still life shots. Or close the aperture for greater depth of field and shoot landscapes or snapshots.

The lens is constructed of 9 elements in 7 groups and has a 9-blade diaphragm. The front lens element features high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass for extra power and a shorter overall lens length. To optimize the lens for mirrorless cameras, two aspherical lens elements help ensure image quality as well as overall compactness. It also features a 11.8-inch minimum focusing distance and 1:78 maximum magnification ratio. Weighing around 9.9 ounces, it measures 2.6×2.8 inches.

Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary

While retaining the compact, lightweight and image quality concepts of the Contemporary line, this lens provides the amount of bokeh and brightness expected from f/1.4 lenses, even in the mid-tele range. Moreover, it offers a combination of optical design for video AF and use of the stepping motor for smooth and quiet autofocus.
