Cranford, NY—After completion of the voting process by the public jury as well as the grand jury, Hasselblad announced the 12 winners of the Hasselblad Masters 2021 competition.
Each winner now obtains the title of “Hasselblad Master” and will receive a new medium–format mirrorless Hasselblad camera. In addition, the winners will shoot for a collaborative project with their new Hasselblad cameras. The company will then publish the project on all Hasselblad channels.
The project will also appear in the commemorative Hasselblad Masters book. Moreover, it will include a special feature on each of the 12 winners along with a selection of the images taken using the Hasselblad cameras they won. The Hasselblad Masters 2021 winners will receive their awards and medium–format cameras in 2022.
“It was incredible to see the number of professional photographers, Hasselblad and non-Hasselblad users, who participated in the 2021 competition. Not only was this year’s competition extra special due to the celebration of our anniversary; however, there were more than 89,000 votes overall!” said Hans Cornet, Hasselblad Client Relationship manager.
Hasselblad Masters 2021
Hasselblad Masters is one of the most prestigious professional photography competitions. The winners are chosen through a combination of a public vote and a professional Hasselblad Masters jury. The latter jury is comprised of internationally renowned photographers as well as imaging experts.
This year’s Hasselblad Masters competition was larger than previous years. In fact, the 2021 competition received a record-breaking number of more than 63,000 submitted images. That is double the amount of uploaded images compared to 2018. In addition, it expanded to 12 categories to include Heritage. Furthermore, the new category commemorates Hasselblad’s 80-year anniversary.
“It was a tremendous honor to be a member of the Hasselblad Masters 2021 grand jury,” commented Mária Švarbová, 2018 Hasselblad Master.
“The competition this year had an amazing turnout; it was great to see the number of talented photographers who submitted their work. Earning the title of Hasselblad Master is an accomplishment on its own, and now these winners will forever be a part of Hasselblad’s history.”
