Melville, NY—Nikon Inc. announced the appointment of Naoki Onozato as its new president and chief executive officer. Nikon Inc. is the subsidiary of Nikon Corporation for the Americas. Onozato has transitioned from his previous role as vice president of Sales and Marketing for Nikon Europe.
“The world has changed significantly in the last year; and there is no better time than now to engage with our customers and partners to build trust and to reignite the passion for the Nikon brand,” said Onozato.
“The future is looking very positive, with a variety of lenses coming in the next few months; but, I am personally most excited for the Nikon Z 9, which is the professional camera that the industry has been waiting for.”

In his new role, Onozato will oversee Nikon’s activities in the Americas; his purview includes the United States, Canada, Mexico as well as Latin America. Furthermore, Onozato’s plans are to embrace an extremely dynamic market and customer base, while focusing on customer satisfaction and bringing exciting new products to market.
In addition, as Nikon looks forward, Onozato will concentrate on its medium–term management plan. The plan calls for building a solid and stable foundation by strengthening the business as the brand continues to engage the professional and hobbyist segment. It also includes developing opportunities for sustainable growth.
Previously, Onozato served as the president for Nikon Middle East FZE as well as for Nikon Latin America. Moreover, he brings more than 20 years of management experience in the consumer electronics industry. His focus is on branding, relationship building and market development.
