Anhui, China—Venus Optics, manufacturer of cine lenses, revealed a :one-of-a-kind” anamorphic zoom lens. Venus also touts the new Laowa Nanomorph Zoom as among the most affordable compact cinema lenses on the market.
“The Nanomorph Zoom offers a stunning and realistic visual experience with its outstanding image quality, minimal distortion and chromatic aberration, and its unique ability to create beautiful bokeh and flare effects,” the company announced.

The new series features a 28–55mm and a 50–100mm lens with a maximum aperture of T2.9, for cameras with Super 35 sensors. Averaging less than 3.3 pounds, the lenses are billed as a unique tool for cinematographers to create various zoom effects and shoot widescreen footage “without compromising quality or flexibility.”
Furthermore, cinematographers can use both lenses with Venus Optics’ 1.33x front adapter the company released earlier. Consequently, the lenses can achieve a 2x anamorphic squeeze ratio.
In addition, via Indiegogo, Laowa is offering its backers the chance to get a Nanomorph Zoom lens in the Arri PL mount for only $1. Obviously, this is a fraction of its market value. However, this perk is only available for one lucky backer.
Moreover, Laowa is offering 10 perks in total, with discounts from 5% to 30% for single lenses or two-lens sets. Additionally, Laowa is offering a 10% off deal for a special customized edition of the Nanomorph Zoom two-lens set for its fans and supporters.
What’s more, with the prelaunch page now live on Indiegogo, Venus Optics invites interested individuals to sign up and become a part of the Nanomorph community. By signing up, supporters will be the first to know when the campaign goes live. They will also have access to early-bird perks and exclusive offers.
