New York, NY—PhotoShelter, a provider of visual asset management for professional photographers and organizations, released a new educational resource. The Photographer’s Guide to Inclusive Photography was published in partnership with the Authority Collective. Photographers can download the guide here.

Photographer’s Guide to Inclusive Photography

The free educational guide is a collaborative effort that discusses the importance of diversity and inclusivity in photography. Moreover, it sheds light on current issues in the industry and gives a voice for leaders to share their thoughts. The guide works to approach photography more thoughtfully; it presents perspectives from a diverse range of photographers.

Industry leaders Tara Pixley, Laylah Amatullah Barrayn, Hannah Reyes Morales, Tailyr Irvine, Danielle Villasana, Mengwen Cao and Jovelle Tamayo share firsthand accounts, valuable insights and resources for photographers and storytellers. PhotoShelter-Logo guide to inclusive photography

“Our partnership with the Authority Collective was enlightening for the PhotoShelter team,” said Andrew Fingerman, CEO of PhotoShelter. “Together, we have identified ways we can take greater responsibility to influence the dialogue toward a more inclusive photography business.”

The free resource provides photographers with definitions and historical context for issues related to photographing race as well as gender. It also offers ideas for how to engage more generously with communities that are not your own.

Furthermore, it provides a list of resources and questions photographers should ask themselves before their next project.

The Photographer’s Guide to Inclusive Photography is the latest in PhotoShelter’s ongoing series of free business guides for photographers and marketing professionals. Moreover, PhotoShelter’s library includes 70+ educational guides. They include topics like photo contests; social media marketing; as well as creating a business plan. Those guides can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/2x3rdHu.
