Irvine, CA—Insta360 unveiled a first of its kind accessory: the Insta360 X3 Water Sports Rope Mount. To redefine the standard for kitesurfing and wakeboarding camera mounts, the new mount achieves third-person views and 360º capture for watersports.
The new accessory is specifically for Insta360’s most-popular 360º action camera, the Insta360 X3. Moreover, the mount renders the rope or lines supporting the camera invisible, allowing for clean third-person shots.
“As the zest for 360 adventure sports capture continues to grow, Insta360 X3 has become hugely popular within the wakeboarding and kitesurfing communities. Creators have been capturing incredible videos and photos, mainly with the use of an Invisible Selfie Stick. However, limited mounting options in both sports have made content creation a tough task,” the company explained.
“The Insta360 X3 Water Sports Rope Mount has solved this problem by enabling creators to directly mount Insta360 X3 onto a piece of equipment that is fundamental for both sports: the rope.”

Furthermore, the new mount solution allows for unobstructed third-person capture with no impact on sporting performance. The company also claims that using the Insta360 X3 with the rope mount is simpler than other similar options on the market. To install, loosen the screw at the top to open the case. Then you can slide the X3 into the mount and secure it.
Kitesurfers can secure the mount onto their kitesurfing lines. Insta360 does caution to “ensure that the screws are tightened and secure and take care not to mount the screw-fixing side onto the safety line.”
In addition, for wakeboarders, they should ensure the tow rope passes through both the top and bottom rope buckles. Then make sure the mount is tightly fixed onto the tow rope by the screws. 
What’s more, the mount’s metal frame fixes the X3 horizontally to avoid camera spinning, allowing for stable shots. Plus, its metal housing design hides the case. It also supports mounting on a sturdy rope with a diameter between 1-8mm.
With a suggested retail price of $59.99, the X3 Water Sports Rope Mount is now available for purchase.
