Santa Rosa, CA—Building on the MindShift Rotation180 backpack series, Think Tank Photo introduced the next generation of MindShift Rotation180 backpacks. The series launched on Kickstarter and was fully funded in less than four hours.

Rotation180 technology is a patented solution that lets photographers quickly access their camera, while on the move, without taking off the backpack. The backpack incorporates a rotating belt pack that houses essential camera gear. This may include a DSLR or mirrorless camera body, lenses as well as various accessories.

Moreover, for this latest iteration, Think Tank designers enhanced the original technology by integrating a magnetic closure on the belt pack lid. As a result, photographers can access the camera from stowed to shooting position in less than three seconds.

The series is mainly aimed at travel and adventure photographers who need quick access to their gear in any situation and who also want to carry heavy gear with the comfort of a backpack.

“Rotation technology helps you keep up your creative momentum,” said Doug Murdoch, lead designer. “No need to stop, take off the backpack and set it down in the dirt, snow or mud to access your camera just to get the shot, Simply rotate the integrated belt pack to the front of your body, and your camera is at your fingertips. Snap the shot, slide the belt pack back in, and you’re on your way!”

The series is available in three sizes ranging from 22, 34 and 50+ liters of capacity. Each backpack includes a camera belt pack, a 10-point adjustable harness system and room for personal gear. In addition, the backpacks can carry a tripod, a water bottle, ice/mountain axe, trekking poles and extra camera gear using an optional MindShift Stash Master photo cube.

The packs also use construction techniques gained from 15 years of experience manufacturing camera bags. Furthermore, the rugged materials are coated with waterresistant polyurethane. Seam-sealed rain covers for both backpack and belt pack are also available separately.

What’s more, all the series backpacks come with a rotating belt pack and feature torso height adjustment to fit a range of body sizes. In addition, a 10-point adjustable harness can be finetuned to how a photographer wants to carry the load. The zoned harness system also maximizes airflow and breathability for comfort.

Other shared features include weather protection with DWR coated fabrics and a poly-coated underside; YKK AquaGuard and RC Fuse zippers and covers; a large side pocket that fits most 1.5L water bottles; internal load compression to keep gear tight and close to the body; and daisy chain attachment points to expand the load.
