Valhalla, NY—Along with the X-T5 digital camera, Fujifilm North America introduced the Fujinon XF30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro lens. The standard prime lens has a 46mm-equivalent focal length. Moreover, for macro photography, it has a 1:1 magnification ratio with a minimum focusing distance of 3.94 inches from the sensor.

“The ability to create dynamic, true 1:1 macro photography means photographers can enjoy tabletop photography, close-up commercial detail, and microscopic wildlife, among other genres,” said Victor Ha, vice president, Electronic Imaging and Optical Devices divisions, Fujifilm North America Corporation.

“The lens’s compact design and weather-resistance makes it possible to take maximum advantage of X Series’ portability, offering unconstrained creative experiences.”

Fujifilm Fujinon XF30mm F2.8 Macro Features

The XF30mm f/2.8 Macro’s build consists of 11 elements in 9 groups. Furthermore, it includes three aspherical elements and two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements. They control various forms of aberration, such as chromatic aberration, spherical aberration and field curvature.

What’s more, the standard 30mm focal length is close to the human field of view. This makes the lens a choice for portraiture and wedding photography, as well as other genres where a lens with a natural field of view is desired. In addition, the lens uses an inner focus system; a linear motor drives the lens group to achieve accurate focus in 0.02 sec. The focusing operation is also quiet and smooth. This is true even for close-up photography, which traditionally has required large movement of focusing elements. Further, the linear motor’s resolution capability ensures focusing accuracy even in macro photography with a very shallow depth of field.

Its design and engineering also prioritize a compact form factor. The result is a lightweight lens weighing 6.9 ounces and measuring 2.7 inches in length with a 43mm filter thread size.

Also, the lens’s dust- and weather-resistant body allows it to operate at low temperatures. The lens barrel is sealed in nine places to ensure consistent operation in temperatures as low as 14°F.

The Fujinon XF30mm f/2.8 R LM WR Macro will reach retail in late November. It will have a  suggested retail price of $599.95.
