Commack, NY—The Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 Di III-A RXD is a fast-aperture ultrawide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras.

Tamron says the new 11–20mm f/2.8 zoom is the “world’s first ultrawide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras that features an aperture of f/2.8.” Moreover, despite its fast aperture, the lens is small, just 3.4 inches in length and 11.8 ounces in weight. As a result, it feels balanced attached to a compact APS-C mirrorless camera.

In addition, at the 11mm ultrawide-angle end, the lens provides close-range shooting performance. It has a MOD (minimum object distance) of 5.9 inches as well as a 1:4 maximum magnification ratio. This feature invites wide-angle macro shooting that exploits the creative effects of naturally occurring distortion.

Photographers can enjoy ultrawide-angle photography at the new lens’s 11mm end (16.5mm full-frame equivalent); however, for everyday use, the 20mm focal length (30mm equivalent) is a solution for casual snapshot photography. Tamron-11-20mm-F2.8-Di-III-A-RXD-lifestyle

What’s more, its compact size and light weight provide a comfortable experience for still photography as well as for shooting video using a small tripod or gimbal stabilizer.

In addition, its optical construction includes 12 elements in 10 groups. Two well-located GM (glass molded aspherical) lens elements help assure high resolution from edge to edge. The lens also incorporates one XLD (eXtra low dispersion) and two LD lens elements to produce sharp images and correct aberrations.

Furthermore, it features Tamron’s BBAR-G2 (broad-band anti-reflection generation 2) coating, which suppresses ghosting and flare while revealing minute details.

Further, just like nearly all of Tamron’s lens models for Sony E-mount cameras, it has a unified Ø67mm filter size. Consequently, this allows reciprocal sharing of filters, such as PL and ND, and lens caps.

Other key features include a quiet RXD (rapid eXtra-silent stepping drive) stepping motor for video recording; moisture-resistant construction; a fluorine coating that provides extra protection; a 7-blade circular diaphragm; and compatibility with many Sony camera-specific functions, including fast hybrid AF and eye AF.

The Tamron 11–20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD will have a suggested retail price of $829.
