Best Buy announced Friday the launch of their seventh annual Toys for Teens campaign, with the goal of making the holidays brighter for underprivileged teenagers.

For over 10 years, the retail giant has been a key supporter of the Marine Toys for Tots campaign and in 2001 partnered with them to create the teenage targeted program. The Toys for Teens program has raised more than $3.2 million to benefit underprivileged teenagers around the country.

This year, Best Buy customers are offered more ways to contribute to the cause. With every purchase of any DreamWorks Animation DVD through Dec 8, Paramount Home Entertainment will donate $3 to Toys for Teens. This includes DreamWorks’ newest release, Shrek the Third. In celebration of the movie’s release and the Toys for Teens campaign, Best Buy will host the Shrek character in select stores in Los Angeles. Also, customers who purchase any DreamWorks Animation DVD through Dec 8 will receive a free Shrek activity book.

In addition, members of the Best Buy Reward Zone program will be able to donate earned program points to Toys for Teens and can do so by going to www.myrewardzone.com until Dec 12. The free program’s more than 24 million members earn points for every dollar spent on qualifying purchases.

In addition, The Best Buy Children’s Foundation has made a donation of $250,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Money donated will go toward buying gifts for underprivileged children between the ages of 12 and 15.

To make a donation customers can visit the over 900 U.S. Best Buy stores that are Toys for Teens donation sites or visit www.BestBuy.com
