Finally: iPhone 4 Comes to Verizon

Verizon and Apple Tuesday confirmed years of rumors, finally announcing that the iPhone will arrive on Verizon Wireless' network in early February.

The deal, announced by Verizon's Lowell McAdams and Apple's Tim Cook at a press event in New York, will offer the iPhone 4 with no design changes aside from the inclusion of a CDMA chip that will make the device work on Verizon's network. The iPhone will run on Verizon's 3G network, unlike some recently announced new smartphones that will work on its new LTE network.

The iPhone for Verizon will be available for preorder Feb. 3 and in-store Feb. 10. It will cost $199.99 for the 16GB version and $299.99 for the 32GB. The 32GB, in a first for Apple, will act as a mobile hotspot for up to five devices.

The executives reiterated multiple times that Verizon's network is “ready” for the onslaught of newly activated iPhones.
