Photo Contest With a Wireless Twist

Combining the growing popularity of both Halloween and wireless communications, Fujifilm and Sprint have teamed in sponsoring the Picture Perfect Halloween Photo Contest. Now through Nov. 12, consumers can submit photos in a variety of Halloween-themed categories. By going to www.HalloweenPhotoContest.com to register, entrants can submit their photos as well as vote on other entries. Fuji and Sprint have also made the site a place to go for photo tips as well as a host of other Halloween related ideas.

The grand prize is a trip for four to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania for the Hershey Trick or Treat Adventure in 2007. The first-, second- and third-place prizes in each category, respectively, are a Fujifilm FinePix F30 digital camera, a Sprint Power VisionSM FUSIC by LG camera phone and 100 YourStamps, personalized postage made with customers’ own photos.

The two companies are clearly tapping into the new way in which consumers, especially the younger demographic, are taking and sharing pictures. As the general public gets more comfortable with wireless technology, photo contests like this one become easy to enter and far more interactive than they were in the past.

Playing perfectly to this is Sprint’s Picture Mail service that allows users to take pictures using their wireless phones and instantly share them via wireless upload or to order prints and photo gifts at www.sprint.com/picturemail.

Any activity that gets consumers clicking away and ordering photo items is a good one for the entire industry. We particularly like the fact this contest has that aforementioned interactive aspect as the more tech savvy among us seem to enjoy anything that is participatory when using their digital devices.
