Under the tagline “The Ultimate Event for Everything Photo”, the organizers of PMA 2009 rolled out plans for the event at a press event in the Helmsley Hotel in New York last week. The show is scheduled once again for Las Vegas, NV from March 3-5, 2009.
The show actually kicks off (for the press anyway) with the annual PMA Sneak Peek event on March 2, 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel, traditionally a great way to get a jump on show coverage to see what’s worth your time when eth show actually opens the next day.
The opening keynote will be delivered by Geoffrey Moore, Ph.D., TCG Advisors LLC and is titled, Dealing With Darwin: Breaking the Back of the Innovator’s Dilemma
Moore is a best-selling author and a managing director at TCG Advisors. His most recent book is “Dealing with Darwin: How Great Companies Innovate at Every Phase of Their Evolution.”
Last years’ show, also held in Las Vegas, attracted approximately 20,000 attendees and featured over 600 exhibitors. Organizers are expecting to match those numbers in 2009.
In an official statement released by PMA, organizers describe the annual event thusly, “The PMA 09 International Convention features approximately 200 sessions, encouraging the discovery of more opportunities, professional development and the inspiration to act on emerging trends. Further opportunities are found at the PMA 09 Trade Show, offering more picture-related products than any other event. PMA attendees help people everywhere create, keep, display and share memories through pictures.”
In keeping with the “tough economy” theme we are seeing attached to just about everything these days, PMA is also offering an interesting 2 for 1 deal through 12/15 – PMA members can buy one All Conference Connection pass and get a second pass for free. The ACC passes include entry into PMA, PPFA, DIMA, PSPA and PSRO.
As for rest of that bowl of acronym soup, PMA does indeed roll out several other interesting and related events that run either right before PMA or concurrent with. They include:
Pro Photography – March 1-4: “The ultimate collection of educational and hands-on sessions for professional photographers.
DIMA 2009 – March 1-4: The “trail-blazing event” at PMA 09, DIMA explores emerging tech trends
PIEA 2009 – March 1-4: PIEA encourages teachers at al levels to inspire the next generation of photographers
PSPA 2009 – March 2-4: Through strategies and planning, the PSPA conference focuses on meeting the customers’ needs.
SPAA 2009 – March 2-4: Professionalism and sports photography are in focus at SPAA.
PPFA 2009 – March 3-5: Enhance your custom framing skills and your business practices at PPFA.
PSRO 2009 – March 3-5: Bridging scrapbook retailers and supplies together to help consumers preserve treasured memories, PSRO provides insight into the memories market.
The PMA press event also threw a spotlight on their co-sponsored 6Sight Conference held in Monterey, Ca. November 18-20, 2008. The 6Sight Future of Imaging Conference examines, as organizers explain, “the technology breakthroughs that are changing how people communicate visually – at work, at home, and in communities – and transforming how imaging companies will do business in the coming years.”
This executive level event provides a unique and comprehensive “future snapshot” of where imaging is headed at an intimate venue for meeting with colleagues. 6Sight attendees preview demonstrations, in some cases for the first time in public, of the most impactful innovations in imaging and interact with their developers, top media, analysts, and fellow executives.
6Sight is co-hosted and organized by Future Image, PMA, and the Association of Imaging Executives (AIE), a member association of imaging leaders who shape the strategic growth of the global imaging industry.
See you on the show floors!
