Sony Offers Back-to-School Workshops, Service

Sony Electronics is helping students head back to school this year with its expanded Backstage service program. The effort includes VAIO PC workshops and one-on-one computer training sessions at participating Sony Style stores across the country.

Backstage agents are set to host two free workshop events, (on July 31 and Aug. 12, both from 7 to 9 p.m.), for students thinking about buying a VAIO PC or for those who already own one. These evening workshops are intended to get students and parents up to speed on the latest features of the new VAIO PC series, including the SR, NR and FW.

“Backstage service is a natural extension of the focus on education, technical expertise and service we provide at Sony Style stores and we’re excited to be able to expand the service to all of our portable products,” said Sony Style VP Scott Strother in a statement.

Backstage service is also expanding its service offerings to support repair for Sony cameras, camcorders, portable devices and MP3 players. In addition, the new Backstage Pass Program will give customers such services as PC set-up, PC maintenance and support for a flat fee of $129.99 per year.

By fall this year, all 42 Sony Style stores in the U.S. will be equipped with Backstage services. For a comprehensive list of Sony Style retailers, visit here.
