“I took this photo on a golden fall day in the North Cascades. We set out in the early afternoon, with the goal of sleeping in a fire lookout that sits above these two lakes. We took our time on the way up, enjoying the views and warmth, as the sun slowly began to set over the mountains.
“The lookout was full when we got to the top, but we still enjoyed the evening among friends. We returned a few days later, in the middle of the week, and had the whole place to ourselves. Fall in Washington is hard to beat.”
