Cranford, NJ—The Hasselblad XCD 4/28P is a wide-angle lens with a 22mm-equivalent focal length and an f/4.0 aperture. Hasselblad developed the P series lens to capture a wide range of scenes—from nature to city streets and urban architecture.
“The lens yields sharp imaging with high precision and high resolution from the center to the edges, achieving stunning image quality across the frame,” Hasselblad announced.
Moreover, measuring 1.7 inches in length and 8.6 ounces in weight, the portable XCD 4/28P is currently the lightest and smallest lens in the Hasselblad X system.

The XCD 4/28P also adopts an optical structure of nine elements in eight groups. It includes two aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, which suppress chromatic dispersion. In addition, its construction results in a compact size as well as Hasselblad performance. Thus, the lens meets the resolution requirements of 100-million-pixel cameras.
With an 8.7-inch minimum focusing distance and 1:6 magnification, the lens can also achieve close-ups of such subjects as flowers and cuisine. In addition, the XCD 4/28P employs a linear stepping motor and a lighter, smaller focusing lens group. When used with the PDAF technology of the X2D 100C camera, the focusing lens group can quickly reach the focusing position to achieve a precise stop.
Furthermore, its small leaf shutter supports shooting with flash synchronization at all shutter speeds, with flash synchronization up to 1/4000s. In addition, the metal lens features an engraved focus ring with a Hasselblad “H” pattern. This is a nod to the design of XCD series lenses.
Hasselblad Lens Series
What’s more, there are currently two Hasselblad XCD lens series, the V series and P series. The P series consists of entry-level, thin, lightweight lenses that can meet daily photography needs. P series lenses also work with the X2D camera to offer more shooting possibilities for traveling photographers.
Moreover, the V series focuses on optical performance and control. The lenses have a larger aperture, delivering a more pronounced background blurring effect.
They also feature a depth-of-field scale; distance scale; a customizable control ring; and a focus ring to switch between autofocus and manual focus. The V series currently includes the XCD 2,5/38V, XCD 2,5/55V and XCD 2,5/90V lenses.
Now available, the Hasselblad XCD 4/28P lens has a suggested retail price of $1,679.
