New York, NY—B&H Photo marks its 50th anniversary with its Bild Expo on September 6–7, 2023 at the Javits Center in New York City. The Bild Expo 2023 is a new large-scale educational and inspirational event for the creative community. Furthermore, admission is free with preregistration here. www.bildexpo.com.

“Bild” is the Yiddish word for “image.” Moreover, it represents both B&H’s 50-year commitment to supporting the creative community as well as its heritage as a New York City icon. The event is a gathering of creatives featuring presentations from 60+ world-class speakers. It will also educate through hands-on workshops and one-on-one portfolio and pitch reviews. Whether you’re a seasoned pro, an enthusiast or a beginner, Bild will offer opportunities to learn and network.

What’s more, Bild’s gear expo will feature 130+ of the leading creative brands, as well as emerging, newer brands. Plus, the Audio Experience will showcase the latest recording devices and microphones. Furthermore, you can join a vibrant creative community and network with hundreds of photographers, filmmakers, sound engineers as well as industry professionals.

Bild Expo 2023 Presentations

B&H will welcome many distinguished speakers to Bild, who will present from four program stages. Confirmed speakers include world-famous photographers, videographers, filmmakers as well as social creators. Currently, the lineup includes Casey Neistat, Art Wolfe, Dan Winters, Scott Kelby, Jenna Ezarik, Frans Lanting, Flo Ngala, Mark Seliger, Grace Wells, Ami Vitale and many more. In addition, hands-on experiences will range from a 16mm  film workshop to photo, video, film and audio demonstrations and activations. It will also offer photo walks around New York City and one-on-one coaching through portfolio and pitch reviews.

On the Bild Main Stage, you can hear from the world’s best photographers, directors, and creators as they share their passion, wisdom as well as expert advice.

You can also participate in the Kodak 16mm Film Workshop (Room 410, 4th floor, 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m.). 2023 is the 100th anniversary of 16mm filmmaking. The workshop will cover all the steps for shooting on 16mm film. This will comprise from selecting and ordering film stock to loading and operating ArriFlex 16mm cameras. The program will start with an introduction and then lead into a hands-on 16mm film experience. No preregistration needed.

In addition, at Bild’s Focus Stages, B&H will host three stages focusing on core areas of interest: landscape, wildlife and outdoor photography; portrait, wedding and event photography; as well as film, video and audio creation. Located in the North Hall on the 4th floor, visit the:

  • Optic Stage: A platform for outdoor and travel photography leaders to share their work with wildlife, landscape and destination storytelling.
  • Depth of Field Stage: A professional showcase tailored for those advancing careers in wedding, portrait, event, fashion as well as commercial photography.
  • Creative Production Stage: The home for filmmakers, video creators and editors to learn and get inspired from some of the best in the industry.
Bild Gear Expo

Bild’s 100,000+ square-foot Gear Expo will feature more than 130 of the leading creative technology brands showcasing their latest innovations in photo, video and audio. Bild will also welcome several emerging newer brands. Plus, attendees can interact directly with brand representatives.

Exhibitors include photo leaders Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Leica, as well as Sigma. It will also feature video/cine innovators like Arri, Blackmagic Design, DJI, and Red Digital Cinema. Moreover, audio pacesetters will include Sennheiser, Shure, Zoom and Tascam, while lighting brand presenters will include Profoto, Godox, Matthews, Nanlite and Westcott.

You can also take advantage of demonstrations where you can get your hands on the latest tech. Additionally, Bild provides the opportunity to have free camera and lens cleanings as well as checkups for Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon and Sony equipment. The B&H Bild Camera Museum

Also located in the North Hall’s 4th floor (Room 403) is the B&H Bild Camera Museum. Stroll down camera memory lane from the moment B&H opened its doors in 1973 to the present. The museum will feature landmark imaging moments from the past 50 years. In addition, it will present select vintage equipment collected from the leading photography brands; the B&H Used Department; as well as the personal collections of longtime B&H employees.

Photo Walks

The event will also provide various photo walks (3rd floor by sponsoring exhibitor booths, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.). Bild Photo Walks give you the chance to explore New York City alongside the photo industry’s top brand ambassadors. You can learn new techniques and helpful tips while capturing memorable photographs. No preregistration is required.

At Bild, a full schedule of portfolio reviews, topic round tables as well as project pitch review opportunities will be available. No preregistration is required. What’s more, as the sun sets on September 7th, B&H invites you to cap off the inaugural Bild Expo in style at an exclusive rooftop reception in the Javits’ North Hall from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Celebrate the culmination of B&H’s first-ever expo with lively conversations, refreshments and, of course, sweeping views of the New York City skyline and Hudson River.

In addition to an open bar where you can enjoy a selection of beverages, B&H will present prize raffles.
