Teaneck, NJ—Along with Leica M11-P camera, Leica Camera AG introduced the Leica Summicron-M 28 f/2 Asph lens. Augmenting the company’s M-Lens portfolio, it is a high-speed, wide-angle lens.
“The new, powerful high-speed M lens presents itself with improved technical features that equip the Summicron-M 28 f/2 Asph ideally for the latest sensor technology and thus for current as well as future camera generations,” Leica announced.

The combination of its wide-angle perspective with a closest focusing distance that ranges from 27.6 inches to 15.7 inches opens up photographic possibilities. Furthermore, focusing up to 27.6 inches still works via the rangefinder of all digital and analog Leica M cameras. What’s more, photographers can fine focus the extended close-up range between 27.6 and 15.7 inches via live view on the screen, the Visoflex 2 viewfinder, as well as with the Leica Fotos app.
Moreover, with the typical compactness of an M lens, the new Summicron-M 28 f/2 Asph is also a solution for comfortable handheld shooting. In addition, Leica integrated the lens hood with a modern, round design into the lens. Furthermore, you can now screw it in or unscrew it with a flick of the wrist.
The new lens’s optical construction comprises 9 lenses in 6 groups to provide images that are rich in contrast and detail. Additionally, you can quietly adjust the focus ring. The lens measures 1.6 inches in length, 2.1 inches in diameter, as well as weighs in at 9.1 ounces. Other features include an E46 filter thread and a 10-blade diaphragm.
