Ronkonkoma, NY—Sigma Corporation of America introduced two lenses for the Fujifilm X-mount camera system. Moreover, the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary and 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary expand the lineup of Sigma X-mount lenses to six.

The X-mount versions of these lenses join Sigma’s Leica L- and Sony E-mount versions that are currently available. Furthermore, the 100–400mm f/5–6.3 is Sigma’s second zoom lens in the X mount. It joins the compact 18–50mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary lens. What’s more, the 23mm f/1.4 lens joins Sigma’s f/1.4 prime lineup. It also includes the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary; 30mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary; as well as the 56mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lenses.

In addition, Sigma will make both the 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary and the 100–400mm f/5–6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary lenses in the X mount available on September 21, 2023.

Sigma has also made its Mount Conversion Service available to convert other mounts of the Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary and 100–400mm f/5–6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary lenses to the X mount.

Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary in X Mount

The 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is a large-aperture wide-angle lens exclusively for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Sigma developed its control algorithm, including AF drive and communication speed optimization, specifically for X-mount interchangeable lenses. In addition to high-speed autofocus, the lens supports AF-C (continuous AF) and in-camera aberration correction.

The lens boasts an 35mm-equivalent focal length as well as the brightness of a large f/1.4 aperture. Its optical formula features 13 elements in 10 groups. They include three SLD (special low dispersion) glass elements and two aspherical lenses. Consequently, it achieves sharp, clear images and enhanced resolving power from its maximum aperture.

Furthermore, its f/1.4 aperture allows for large, beautiful bokeh effects. Plus, with Sigma’s Super Multilayer coatings, countermeasures were taken against flare and ghosting for clear shooting even in backlit environments.

In addition, to take advantage of the mobility of compact APS-C mirrorless cameras, the lens body is portable. The X-mount lens weighs 11.8 ounces and measures 3.1 inches in length with a 52mm filter diameter.

“The high-precision machining technology of Sigma’s sole production facility in Aizu, Japan, has enabled the lens body to achieve the ideal balance between excellent optical performance based on the latest optical and mechanical design and compactness,” Sigma stated.

With an inner-focus design, the lens’s AF drive system uses a quiet, high-speed stepping motor. It’s also compatible with in-camera lens aberration correction on supported cameras, as well as DMF and AF+MF.

Other features include dust and splash resistance with rubber seals; a 9-blade rounded diaphragm; a brass bayonet mount; and “Made in Japan” craftsmanship.

The Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary X-mount lens has a suggested retail price of $549.

Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary in X Mount

The Sigma 100–400mm f/5–6.3 DG DN OS | C lens was created in 2020 as the “Handy Tele Master.” The DG DN version of the ultra-telephoto zoom for full-frame mirrorless cameras now comes in the Fujifilm X mount. While made for full-frame mirrorless cameras, photographers can also use the lens with an APS-C-format X-mount body.

Likes its sibling, the 23mm f/1.4 DC DN | C, this lens also uses a new control algorithm. It optimizes both the AF drive and communication speed specifically for X-mount interchangeable lenses. It offers high-speed autofocus and supports AF-C (continuous AF) as well as in-camera aberration correction on compatible cameras. Additionally, its switches were optimized for the X mount. The AF function setting switch allows users to select a function while the AF function button is pressed on the lens side.

The ultra-telephoto zoom covers a 150–600mm-equivalent focal length range. Despite its ultra-telephoto reach, the lens has a compact design. It measures 7.9 inches, has an 86mm maximum diameter and weighs 40 ounces.

Furthermore, the lens is constructed with 16 groups and 22 elements. One FLD (fluorite-equivalent) and four SLDs elements correct aberrations and distortions. Thus, it achieves high-resolution imaging all the way to the edges of the frame throughout its focal length range. And Super Multilayer coatings combat flare and ghosting.

In addition to high-speed AF achieved by a stepping motor and Sigma’s latest algorithm, the 100–400mm f/5–6.3 DG DN OS | C also offers five steps of built-in optical image stabilization. Furthermore, when combined with a camera employing in-body image stabilization, the lens corrects for pitch and yaw axis rotations.

It also has an AF function setting switch to choose AF lock/AF activation. Further, its focus limiter switch permits optimizing the AF range according to the shooting scenario. Plus, a zoom lock switch fixes the zoom ring at the widest end, preventing it from rotating and causing the barrel to extend under its own weight during transportation. In addition, an OS switch permits users to switch between mode 1 for general photography and mode 2 for motor sports and other panning.

With an inner-focus system, the new lens also supports straight zoom, which allows photographers to zoom in and out by adjusting the hood for quick view angle adjustments. And it features a dual-action zoom that supports both straight zoom and ring zoom.

To make the lens more durable, while retaining a light weight, Sigma carefully choose the right materials in the right place. For instance, magnesium alloy is used for the part where a tripod socket is attached, which needs to be very strong. The mount is also dust and splash resistant with rubber sealing. The lens also has a brass bayonet mount.

The Sigma 100–400mm f/5–6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary lens has an SRP of $949.
